LOOK 1: Straight & Slightly Disheveled
Look 2: Soft and Bohemian Waves
For back-to-school I was craving a new hairstyle that was cool and edgy so I decided that bangs are the answer! My inspiration was Jenny Humphrey’s (Gossip Girl) platinum blonde, choppy layers with heavy bangs. For me, I decided it was best to go longer and darker than Little J.
Rumor has it that Sam Brocato in SoHo is Gossip Girl’s favorite salon. I met with hair stylist, Lisa Lord. We decided to use Jenny’s hairstyle as an inspiration, but to alter it in a way that best compliments my features, making it unique to me. We came to the conclusion of cutting my bangs like Jenny, making them long, heavy, messy, and imperfect. We also decided to make the layers that frame my face look shorter, and to cut them to look defined and razor-sharp. Hair colorist, Kristin Golembiewski and I decided to do a Brigitte Bardot honey blonde color. Making my hair color lighter not only brightens my eyes, it makes my hair style pop a little more.
I’m having fun styling my new hair-do and I love how I can transition the look from looking straight and slightly disheveled to having soft and bohemian waves. Below are two different techiques I use to style my hair.
Soft and Bohemian Waves
1) I enhance my natural curl by incorporating Sam Brocato’s Texture Cream and Back to the Beach product throughout my hair when wet.
2) Take a hair dryer and concentrate the heat on sections of scrunched hair.
3) Once my hair is dry, I flat iron the top of my hair, and then use a half-inch curling iron to touch-up certain curls at the bottom.
4) Next step is to use Sam Brocato’s Carve product to piece together certain curls.
5) Final step is to apply two pumps of Sam Brocato’s Actives product for a healthy shine.
Straight and Slightly Disheveled
1) Apply Sam Brocato’s Supersilk on wet hair to make it feel soft, and luxurious.
2) After blow drying my hair and straightening sections with a small comb, I put two pumps of Actives hair serum in the palm of my hands, rub them together, and then incorporate it throughout my hair, making it look sleek and shiny.
3) Spray Back to the Beach on bangs and all over. Then take fingers and mess it up a little.
These are my two go-to hairstyles for my new do’! Please leave a comment and share your favorite hair style!
