A tress-transformation is in order for Summer. The change of seasons has a magical effect to make me want something fresh and new, something that represents a personal change inside and out. I called Sam Brocato’s SoHo Salon to trade in my blonde locks for something a little more fiery.
Not wanting too drastic of a color change too quickly, I decided to ease into a strawberry blonde. Hair Colorist Kristin Golembiewski adds shades of peach, copper, and bronze to my already golden blonde hair. “We kept everything very light and soft to compliment her fair skin and green eyes. I glazed with a deeper gold shade at her base and more of a rose gold through her ends for the last 10 minutes to help bring everything together,” said Golembiewski.
Inspired by Bridget Bardot’s effortlessly sexy hair style with eye-skimming fringe and a center part, Hair Stylist Lisa Lord adds more bangs to the sides. She angles them down to my cheekbones giving them an elongated look. She starts with Brocato Supersilk Leave-In Treatment for moisture and Brocato Swell Volume Gel Mousse for hold. She then power-dries my hair in the direction of the cuticle so it’s not too frizzy but also has more of a bed-head, not so polished, tousled look. To give it a little more polish, Lord says the trick is to go over a few pieces with a large curling iron. Brocato Swell Clay is mixed with Dust Uplifting Texture Powder to add volume and texture and extra dust to the roots for maximum lift. To finish, Brocato Moveable Hold Hairspray for a touchable, brushable hold.
I am loving my new strawberry blonde hue and edgy do.’ On the inside I feel much sassier and on the outside I feel that the color change compliments my features much more. So long goldie locks, there is a new fiery red head in town!
