Step into the past and indulge your sweet tooth at the Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain. It just so happens to be an ice cream parlor house in a 1920s pharmacy with old-fashioned drugs still on display. I settled my sweet tooth with the ‘Rainbow Connection’ milkshake that is a delicious concoction of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and rainbow sprinkles! Definitely a great spot for a large group or date with someone special!:) It’s a classic New York place that sparkles with vintage authenticity.
For this vintage inspired shoot, hairstylist, Sam Brocato created a modern Rita Hayworth inspired look. If you are not familiar with Rita Hayworth, she is an old Hollywood starlet from the 1940’s and 50’s with fiery red hair and a signature hairstyle of long, side-parted waves. Sam modernized the hairstyle by making the waves looser and a bit tousled.
Stylist, Alexandra Archibald of Petite Tenue styled me in pieces from the 1940’s and 50’s. Alexandra is a vintage connoisseur with the coolest profession – she travels around the country to thrift/vintage stores finding one-of-a-kind vintage treasures! Alexandra sells the vintage pieces in her mobile vintage store aka a renovated 1972 Airstream Trailer. Please click HERE to view her touring schedule.
Usually, I am hesitant to wear red because I feel like it’s “too much” with my hair, but Alexandra suggested that I try on a classic, scoop neck dress that had a Jessica Rabbit vibe. I ended up falling in love with the flirty red dress and paired it with a fabulous vintage fur jacket. Got to watch out for a red-haired lady in red!
