Thanks to Anderson Wright and Matt Heymann for creating this amazing video! Check out my interview below with these accomplished film geniuses…
1. What type of film do you specialize in?
Anderson: I’m currently working as an associate producer for an Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker. On my own, I make commercials for small businesses.
Matt: My specialization is mainly cinematography. Although I occasionally shoot videos (such as this one) for companies and websites, my main passion is for feature films and documentary. Im graduating from the film school at NYU where I have been shooting and directing student films and documentaries.
2. What are some of your greatest skills as a cinematographer/videographer?
Anderson: My skill set is unique because I’m simultaneously creative and logical. I am grounded, but I bring an irrepressible enthusiasm to my work. My interest in both the artistic-minded and business-minded aspects of filmmaking has led me to the commercial world.
Matt: I’d say my greatest skills as a cinematographer is my framing. My background is in photography and documentary where I am forced to make beautiful images on the fly. To be able to frame people, places and objects in an interesting way is a difficult task but I enjoy this aspect of filmmaking the most!
3. When did your passion for cinematography/videography begin?
Anderson: As a 19-year-old freshman on my way to college, I met a Hollywood movie producer aboard an airplane from New York to LA. She offered me an internship once we landed. This job at CBS-Paramount and later at Sony Pictures Television helped me break into the film industry, and I’ve been working in various areas of the business ever since.
Matt: I began taking photos and working with imaging in high school. I found an old family camera and eventually started taking photos regularly. Soon after I started my own dark room and began developing and processing my own film. One thing led to another and I found myself shooting videos for my friends at school. This is when I realized that filmmaking is something that I want to be involved in… which brought me all the way to NYU film school.
4. What are some of your greatest accomplishments as a cinematographer/videographer?
Anderson: It’s been a lot of fun to work in New York City this year doing what I’ve wanted to do since I was in 5th grade. It was a blast to work with Rachel and the Sam Brocato team, and I hope you like this video!
Matt: My work includes an array of student films, documentaries, experimental films, commercials, music videos and independent films. My passion has brought me all of the country not to mention the world.
Great job once again Rachel! You look amazing and great job highlighting the salon and their goals too. Also really liked the videography. Keep that passion going!
