Go on a culinary adventure at Addison, San Diego’s first Michelin-starred restaurant that’s associated with Relais & Châteaux.
Upon arrival, I was taken in by the restaurant’s picturesque Mediterranean style building and attentive service.
We dined al fresco and took in beautiful views of the Fairmont Grand Del Mar’s Tom Fazio-designed golf course. Guests have the option of experiencing Chef William Bradley’s cuisine via a five or ten course tasting menu that celebrates regional ingredients, Southern California influences, and Chef’s contemporary French cooking style. Be sure to check out the extensive wine list that features everything from little-known finds to well-known favorites.
We experienced the five-course tasting menu and it was a truly special experience that featured many unique flavors and ingredients.

Warm Hibiscus Tea
Prelude featuring: Sage Hill Ranch Garden Greens. Kumamoto Oysters with gooseberry and ponzu. Squid Ink Toast with finger line and smoked prow. Rosemary Rosti with iberian ham and aged sherry.
Alaskan King Crab with coconut, thai basil, and passion fruit.
Signature Crisps with flavors of dill and fennel.
Caramelized Cod with caviar, katsuobushi, and alliums.
Sourdough Bread with goat’s milk and browned butter honey.
Artichoke with whipped parmesan and red mullet roe.
Entrées:
Japanese A5 Wagyu beef that was cooked to perfection!
Barbecued Pigeon with chicory, beetroot, and blackberry.
To Cleanse Our Palate:
Orange Sherbet with persimmon and young ginger preserves.
A beautifully presented dessert tray featuring:
Toasted Rice Custard with parsnip, cognac caramel, and cranberry macaron. Gingerbread Tartelette with quince, rose apples, cheddar fondue. Grapefruit Blossom Honeycomb. Brown Butter Wafer toffee, salted peanuts, cherries. Variations of praline, espresso, and chocolate.
The five course menu took us three hours to complete so it’s truly an experience and I left feeling quite full.
After dinner, I toured the kitchen and got to see the behind-the-scenes action!
As we walked out the door of the restaurant, we were graciously handed tomorrow morning’s breakfast, cherry and coconut granola.
Addison offers a truly memorable dining experience and I’d recommend securing a reservation for a date with your special someone or a celebration.
