When I was asked, “where do you want to spend your birthday?” Stonepine Estate in Carmel Valley immediately came to mind.
It’s an exclusive resort set on 400 acres and features a stunning chateau, bed and breakfast, and an equestrian center.
I visited Stonepine Estate a couple months ago with my boyfriend, but this time it was a treat to enjoy it with family and friends. It’s the perfect place for a celebration as there are endless things to do and a variety of accommodations.
We started off the evening at Chateau Noel in the elegant Marie Antoinette room and enjoyed a lovely reception with champagne and platters of hors d’oeuvres.
We then made our way to a private dining room and dined on a delicious menu that featured:
Olive bread with Stonepine olive oil. Butternut squash soup with creme fraiche.
Sea bass with rice, bok choy, and a delicious yellow curry sauce with lemongrass.
And for desert, fresh peach and blueberry crisp with vanilla bean ice cream.
After dinner, we made our way to the game room located above the stables and turned on the jukebox. We played many rounds of foosball and hung out. There’s also a pool table, ping-pong, darts, a poker table, and a western bar.
After, I headed back to the fairytale-like Briar Rose Cottage where I slept like a baby. Its spacious two floors include two bedrooms and one and a half baths. The living room has a rustic Carmel stone fireplace and a TV that’s perfect for entertaining! There’s also an intimate dining room and kitchen.
The following morning, I woke up to a delicious breakfast spread that the staff delivered. We enjoyed it on the porch that overlooks a garden and fruit orchard. We spotted a couple of deer hanging out on the lawn.
Another cool place to stay is the Taittinger Suite located within Chateau Noel that features elegant champagne decor and satin finishes. There are two stories, two master bathrooms and an office. Upstairs there’s a private loft sitting room with beautiful views of the estate.
After, we headed down the road to Garland Ranch for a hike. It has easy trails, steep, challenging trails, ponds, a waterfall, and fields of wildflowers. It’s also dog friendly so feel free to bring your pups!
After, we headed back to the estate and explored. We came across a Leaders Walk that features a variety of placards for a variety of industries with leader names. Areas included Science & Medicine, Explorers and Conquerors, and Innovators and Visionaries, etc. Guests are asked to think about within the lists of leaders, who do they think made the biggest impact and record their answers. It’s great food for thought!
We also played a round on the four-hole golf course. Other options for activities include tennis, croquet, swimming, and outdoor chess. It’s also fun to wander the stables and say hello to the beautiful horses.
I had a wonderful birthday weekend at Stonepine Estate and look forward to many more celebrations there!
