Looking for a place to nest while in Taos? Stay at the comfy roost, Casa Gallina, a zen artisan inn with over forty healthy and happy chickens onsite.
We stayed in a Barred Rock Adobe Casita and it’s the most stylish casita I’ve ever stayed in – even the fridge has pizzazz!
In the fully equipped kitchen, cook up a delicious meal with eggs from “the girls” paired with veggies picked from the organic garden onsite.
Guests are encouraged to feed the chickens food scraps. This becomes a fun routine after mealtime!
Rooms are spacious and eclectically designed with local art, hand-crafted furnishings, antiques, and beautiful textiles. In the mornings, I enjoyed looking out the window and taking in the vibrant sunset over Taos Mountain.
Outside of the rooms, you will find an expansive yard featuring a meditation station as well as an Acequia – a historic hand dug irrigation ditch that cuts through the property. It’s a unique addition that calms your mind and makes you feel at peace. There are comfortable sitting areas for guests’ to fall into a good book as well as hammocks to nap in.
Located just five minutes away from the Historic Taos Plaza, Casa Gallina is the perfect base for exploring the area, but it’s also the perfect place to stay put and take it easy.
Host, Richard is very kind, hospitable, and made us feel right at home! One morning, he even brought us some delicious pumpkin bread made from pumpkin from the garden onsite.
When it’s time to leave Casa Gallina, you will be sad to go. Especially as you’ll have made friends with the flock!
