La Forêt is a hidden gem in San Jose that’s perfect for foodies and history buffs alike! Enjoy a sophisticated French dining experience in a countryside setting.
In 1848, a creekside boarding house was constructed in New Almaden to house the area’s hard-working crews. The two story building was the first two-story hotel in California and it provided miners a comfortable place to sleep and hot meals.
My boyfriend, Matthew and I went to La Forêt for date night and enjoyed the five course tasting menu with wine pairings. The menu featured the following:
The food and wine pairing was wonderful! The pairings were very much on point and went with each dish perfectly.
While I was pleased with the wines selected, top notch service really stood out. The whole experience felt very much “white glove” and “white table cloth” throughout the evening.
To top it off, there are so many amazing things on La Forêt’s menu. Each of the five courses I had were excellent and pleasantly satisfied my appetite! It would be hard to pick a favorite dish of the bunch, but if I had to, the Scallop with Puff Pastry and the Beef Tournedos would certainly compete for the top spot.
The meal ended with a deliciously simple desert: Berries with Creme Anglaise. Paired with a glass of Port, our evening at La Forêt came to a pleasant close.
Beautiful post, I’ve always wanted to try La Foret! I’ll add it to my list of must try restaurants!!!!
