Perched on a bluff overlooking the Russian River entering the Pacific Ocean sits a very special place: River’s End Restaurant and Inn. Originally built in 1927 as a restaurant and inn for loggers and fisherman, this perfect slice of Northern California is now a haven for those looking for a bit of peace and quiet.
Sunset House is a fully equipped two bedroom, three bathroom house that sits just yards from the water where seals play and herons flock – it’s truly a paradise! The luxurious living room has expansive windows featuring gorgeous Pacific views and it’s fun to look out and see kayakers pass by.
Rooms are very well appointed and the bathrooms are masterpieces on their own with incredible stone work. The dining room is capable of entertaining a small party of friends while the multiple outdoor fireplaces and massive hot tub are extra amenities that act as the icing on the cake.
While the full kitchen (including BBQ) is a great option to have, you will surely be tempted to dine at the River’s End restaurant just up the hill. The restaurant was so good that I ended up eating there two nights in a row. Try to arrive early and grab yourself a cocktail while watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean. For cocktails, I’d suggest the Aviator or Manhattan. For dinner the Salmon, Lamb Lollipops, and Shrimp Pasta are exquisite. Also, the Duck Confit Rolls are a fun and tasty appetizer. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!
After dinner, you can collapse into the comfy beds for a restful night of sleep. When you wake up in the morning and look out over the calm waters of Jenner with a cup of Nespresso in hand your day starts out on a great note!
Sunset House is one of those places that you never want to leave. To feel fully recharged and have the ability to take in all the local activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking, I’d suggest staying for at least five days. This time around, my boyfriend and I had a nice couples getaway, but next time I look forward to enjoying the house with a larger group of people as its the perfect house for entertaining and creating wonderful memories!
Rivers End looks like a very special and romantic Inn. I love the decor!!!!! Can’t wait to visit there.
