Perched on the Sausalito waterfront, The Trident is a Bay Area landmark that’s rich in history and offers panoramic views of the San Francisco skyline. Over the years, the building has gone through several incarnations, from San Francisco Yacht Club, to a rock scene hangout where Janis Joplin was a regular. Today, you’ll still find psychedelic murals painted on the ceiling and a menu featuring local and sustainably produced ingredients.
Upon arrival, my boyfriend, Matthew and I were warmly greeted and a hostess led us to a cozy booth with a floor-to-ceiling glass window in front of it. As the lights went down and the sun began to set it created a romantic ambiance. A Guava Rum Punch accompanied the view quite nicely, along with the following appetizers:
Dungeness Crab Cakes with Fresno Chile Slaw, Grapefruit, and Citrus Aioli
Crispy Domestic Calamari with “Old Bay” Aioli and Meyer Lemon
Blistered Shishito Peppers with Charred Lemon, Toasted Sesame, and Sea Salt
As for mains, we shared the following and they were delightful!
The Trident Cioppino – a signature dish
Famous Beer Battered Fish & Chips
Make sure to save room for dessert! We learned that the owners of The Trident also own The Buena Vista in San Francisco, therefore, we had to order their signature Irish Coffee.
We also had a slice of Layered Fantasy Cake, that was originally created for Frank Sinatra. It included Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Mousse, New York Style Cheesecake, and Roasted Strawberries.
Overall, The Trident offers a fun dining experience in a laid back environment. The food is equally as delicious as its view of the San Francisco skyline, Angel Island and Alcatraz.
